Kardex uses vision to keep a bad bin out of the grid

Material Handling & Logistics reported on 27 October 2026 that Kardex launched BinInductAI for AutoStore. The operator sets the bin in the induction port. The system checks bin presence, walls, robot pickup holes, and barcode readability, then confirms with AutoStore that the bin is not already registered before it sends the insert command.

The point of the check is to stop a damaged or out-of-spec bin before it becomes a jam inside the grid. Vision here is a gate at the front door. It does not replace the technician who has to free a bin that is already stuck.
