A conveyor-mounted controller for any brand of roller motor

DC Velocity reported from Modex 2026 that Beckhoff’s EP741x motor-driven roller controllers are IP54 EtherCAT I/O modules meant to mount on the conveyor. They are offered with or without integrated safety, and they support 24-volt and 48-volt brushless motors from any manufacturer, including motorized rollers and flat motors.

The company describes the result as simpler wiring, more data, and more visibility for predictive maintenance. For a technician, the practical change is where the card lives. A fault may be on a box at the roller, not only in the main cabinet, and the motor brand on the tube may not match the name on the controller.
